Data Science
Trail description
The Data Science trail emphasizes data-driven science and the opportunities that this
area can bring to science, engineering, and all fields that depend on innovation in
measurement technologies for advancement. Data science offers a very different approach
to problem solving and discovery, shifting away from classical hypothesis testing
to collecting and analyzing data. Mathematics is used for discovery and finding hidden
relationships in data, seeking cause and effect relationships among groups of variables
and deriving predictive models that hold under real-world conditions. The Data Science
trail will transform OSU students into 21st century problem solvers, helping students
meet new challenges in a global economy and interconnected world.
