    Business Solutions to Global Challenges

     

    The Business Solutions to Global Challenges trail gives students the tools to tackle major global issues through the lenses of business and economics. Through hands-on coursework, students will gain a deeper understanding of the root causes and develop practical skills to find real-world solutions.

    In Connecting Writing with Agriculture and Life Sciences, students will explore how to give voice to nature’s most pressing narratives. This trail blends scientific fact with creative writing, equipping students with the power to effectively communicate ideas in agriculture and the life sciences.

    The Data Science trail emphasizes data-driven science and the opportunities that this area can bring to science, engineering and all fields that depend on innovation in measurement technologies for advancement.     Digital Citizenship: Media & Information Literacy

     

    In a world filled with viral trends and information overload, it’s easy to feel lost in the digital jungle. With expert teaching and hands-on learning, students will learn how to spot fake news, use data to make smart decisions, create engaging content, and more.

    Ethics and Society

     

    Fairness, equality of opportunity, and equal protections under the law are bedrock values of our society. The courses in this trail enable students to recognize multidimensional social problems, develop skills to analyze these complex problems and potential solutions from various perspectives, and implement these ideas in various professions and industries.

    Food not only nourishes the human body – it drives economies, shapes cultures and connects families and communities. In the Farm to Fork General Education Trail, you will trek through the interconnected world of food from seed to society.

    Leadership

     

    In the Leadership trail, students will explore a variety of leadership approaches and discover how to be leaders at OSU and beyond. This trail aligns with OSU’s strategic goal of emphasizing key qualities that comprise the ideal graduate, including creating ethical leaders who are prepared to tackle the state’s and world’s biggest challenges.

    Movement of People and Animals

     

    Inspired by the importance of the movement of humans and animals to the history of Oklahoma, this trail introduces students to the topic through a historical and contemporary lens. Students will draw connections across time and between human and nonhuman animal movement, exploring how different types of migration impact culture, language, and governmental policies.

    Rural Communities

     

    This trail empowers students to use research and service to respond to a variety of problems plaguing rural communities. Students will discover the importance of community and have opportunities to take solutions discussed in the classrooms into the real world.
